A huge virgin forest

Hidden in the background of Gabon, Minkebe is located in the middle of the virgin tropical forest of Africa. Its forest is classified among the second largest bloc of forest in the world. A wild flora and untouched, deeply mingles with ancient trees.

The forest is crossed by four large rivers, providing the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the landscape with a dugout canoe. The granite mountains of Minkebe with spectacular greenery also called inselbergs have been formed since two billion years. Until now this forest remains untouched by mankind. Today, the biggest est trees aged of hundreds of years are higher than 50 meters. Some of them are encircled with a wild garden of orchids and terns where old creepers have also been interlaced for many years. It gives an impression of an ancient site that remains intact.

Tourism in such a wild environment may sometimes look a mystical experience. The region could be considered one of the last wildlife frontiers of the world with a tropical forest full of life. Minkebe offers exceptional touristic opportunities that will be a benefit for the region and its preservation.

The lungs of the planet

That large wild area that constitutes one of the greatest rainforest in Africa is totally kept untouched for playing an important role on the global level, in terms of carbon trapping and oxygen production . Those functions are essential for reducing negatives effects of the global warming. The biodiversity is outstanding with so many species such as the bongo (that may be the nicest antelope of Africa) and other rare species westward.
